Review: The Best of Me

 I was so excited to finally get to watch The Best of me, after writing an article on it for one my classes I really wanted to see it for myself. It was said that it would be the next Notebook, after Nicholas Sparks books were made into movies many of them did well. I loved his two books The Last Song and The Lucky One but I was disappointed by the movies. Although I still do watch these movies again I guess I would have to say I am a fan of Nicholas Sparks. Though I have watched the movie The Best of Me, I still plan on reading the book so that I can compare. I was told before by a professor that books and movies should not be compared as they are two different mediums, but I will go against this as sometimes I cannot help it.

I would have to say I did like this movie, although I do not relate to this in real life. Growing up I realized that movies are nothing like real life and movies today make me look at things differently. This movie does cover love and loss and everyone can relate to it, we all have those what if moments. The movie shows the couple seeing each other for one more time, this does not happen to all of us, but it was nice to see that in the movie it can gave us the chance to see what it “might” be like.

From what I can see from this movie you can re-unite with someone you were once in love with, but it does not lead to getting back together. Things cannot just go back to the way they were, you can see them again and still have feelings with them but sometimes getting back together just doesn’t happen. I guess having feelings for someone doesn’t mean you have to be with them, because of circumstances having them in your life is just as far as it can go. That’s ok, having someone in your life is better that not having them at all. Feelings can’t be helped and there are so many things in life that make being in a relationship complicated.

You can’t go back to the past and even if you do it won’t be the same.

Homesick. Fighter. Humble.

The second day Fast 6 was out I went to see it with my two cousins and my uncle. I was super excited to watch it. I am a huge fan of all the movies and I wanted to see it as soon as I could.  Well it didn't fail to disappoint me. There was no dull moment and there were even more funny moments.

However I didn't realize that it was filmed in England. Nearly the whole movie was shot in England, it really surprised me. It made me miss back home even more. Before I never considered England as my home and now I really do feel like it is a part of me.  I was born and raised there so I guess whether I deny it or not I can never hide that fact; especially I still have a British accent blasting out of my mouth.

I guess what they say is true wherever you go in life you should never forget where you came from. We never start at the top and yes people do work hard but showing off does nothing.

I know what I just wrote has just jumped from one topic to another. I just want people to know that as much as possible stay humble, there is no reason to show off. My sister has gotten so far but she doesn't rub it in my face. This is because she knows she doesn't need to; no one needs to.

Fast 6 being filmed in London made me realize how far I've come.  It made me feel homesick.  Someone today asked if I cry whenever I feel homesick or whenever I suddenly miss back home. But the truth is I don't feel the need to cry any more, what use will it do? I chose his life even though it's hard as hell. I will not stop moving towards my dreams!

Movies Movies Movies

So in two days I've watched six movies. But no my eyes do not hurt, and no I enjoyed and do not regret a single bit of it.
1. 40 Year Old Virgin
2. TED
3. Playing For Keeps
4. Tonight You're Mine
5. House At The End of The Street
6. Chinese Zodiac

Loved every single one of these movies! My most favourite would have to be 40 Year Old Virgin, it was super hilarious. It was a light hearted and a hilarious movie! There was no dull moment and the cast were very well picked. It made me appreciate Steve Carell's acting. I was not a fan of him until I watched this movie. I found him very weird in Bruce Almighty, but in this movie I actually managed to have a laugh!

Second best was TED I loved the teddy bear! I wish I had a bear like that. Even though he did smoke drugs and swear a lot it did not bother me. This movie was a rom-com with an added twist...the teddy bear. It's not like every other rom-com where it's just about love love love between the pair, they added a bear. It made it more fun to watch.

The third top movie would have to be Chinese Zodiac. I am a huge fan of Jackie Chan, I grew up watching his movies. This movie was great! It had the action and the comedy in it and it was perfect. I did get a bit confused I think that was just me though...

Last one would have to be House At The End of The Street. I only started to watch and get used to watching horror movies in the Philippines. This movie was not scarey however it did make me jump! What I liked about the movie is the story.  How there was a puzzle to solve, and it really made me think. I loved the suspense of the movie! Whoever thought of it was a genius!

The two other movies; Tonight You're Mine and Playing For Keeps. Tonight You're Mine was an ok movie, I plan on watching this movie again to maybe appreciate it a bit more, partly because half the time I could not understand what they were saying. But it seemed good, it's the usual. Boy and girl love hate relationship, falls in love have a fight breaks up and then they get back together again. The only reason I like to watch movies like this because it just makes me feel that love exists or there are so many love stories out, they're all the same. That's why we too have our own love story.

Playing For Keeps, don't know what to say about this movie, it was an okay movie, Gerald Butler looked horrible, (usually he's super hot). The movie was sweet, it was about family so many could relate. If only those stories where real, maybe I just haven't seen one yet. It is a story a father who is not close to his son and so as he sees him more often he gets back his sons love and becomes close with him. In the end he can no longer leave him and chooses his family over a very good career opportunity.

No More To Cliche

The other day I watched Waiting Forever, I didn't know what it was about but at that time I needed a drama. I needed a reason to cry. I figured Waiting Forever was the perfect movie. Well I was kind of right.

The movie to me unlike other movies, it wasn't to cliche for me. In every movie we watch we watch it even if we know the ending because there's nothing like a happy ending. We watch because it makes us feel like there is a world out there with happy endings.

Waiting Forever begins with a guy hoping to finally find the love her life and marry her. He has no place to live, no proper clothes and just a bag with him. When he goes back to his hometown where he met the girl he is too afraid to approach her and propose to her. He finds out she has moved on and has another guy that she loves. However spending time with her slightly wins her back.

In the end however which was what I liked it wasn't a happy ending, they ended it with a hug. What could that mean? From my interpretation they ended up just as best friends....forever.

I was so excited to watch this movie everyone was talking about. It was out since last year september 2013; it was trending a few times. So when I was watching it my expectations was high, I knew that it was acapella. I did enjoy the acapella bits as it all enhanced their voices as you know it wasn't edited as much. Also it made me laugh, I loved how they put jokes in it.

However it was too cliche and boring at times as you knew what was going to happen next. I guess my expectations were high and I was looking for something different.

To conclude it its a movie to watch when you're bored or hanging around the house.

Lets fall in love all the time!

From the movie A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song. Its the second time I've watched this movie. I watched it today with my dorm mate. We were screaming, giggling and pinching eachother. This movie was released in 2011 but I only found out about it on sunday when I watched it on HBO. It's now officially one of my favourite adaptations of Cinderella. I love the story. I love the leading man...Freddie Stroma. I love the leading lady. I love the movie.

I really love movies which can make me laugh, cry, cringe 'kilig,' and feel like I'm falling in love. Its as if you're the leading girl in the movie that's what I love. I've never been in love but I imagine being in love every time I watch movies like this. I could watch it over and over again.

I picked this song as it is one of my favourite songs from the soundtrack. It's so sweet and makes you want to live your dreams. Especially when I found this video.

Let's SCREEEEEAM 1-2-3-4!!!

After watching Saw I finally feel I can stomach anything with blood and goaaaar! Scream is now one of my favorite movies it didn't scare me it actually made me laugh I remember when I was a child I used to dread Scream it was one of the scariest moves I had ever seen. But I finished all four in 2 days and I was able to sleep perfectly, it didnt effect me one bit!

Vicky Christina Barcelona

Well this was one of the weirdest movies I've ever watched. A movie about one single woman and one engaged woman both best friends on a trip. A man they meet both come in between their love lives where both girls fall in love with him as they both follow him to go on a trip. The single woman ends up having a relationship however in their relationship the wife of the man is included. Crazy right? During that relationship a threesome is included together with the wife and girl having sex. This was something I've never expected is it because I'm still innocent and I've never been in a relationship, but seriously it makes me wonder if this stuff is real. If it still exists, if people can stomach this kind of relationship, if this is what love really is.

Shopping, Sushi, Movie... it's time for sem-break!

It's my first outing with friends during my first ever sem-break here in the Philippines and so I spent it with two of my close friends from the dorm. After picking up my friend from the dorm we withdrew some many, planning on going to Vikings* later on that day. After withdrawing money we went straight to Forever 21, where my friend went shopping while I watched her pick clothes after clothes. You see I'm not a shopper unless it's cheaper clothing. Here in the Philippines I got used to buying cheaper clothes and not clothes from a mall, because sometimes I feel like its a waste to spend money on clothing. Even though I want to; I want to buy expensive clothing when I'm rich!

However that day I decided to spend my money on SUSHI ! Im not a fan of sushi but we had the most amazing sushi ever! We ordered a party size so we had sooooo many different types of sushi it was amazing! Together with salad and tempura...even the tempura tasted good and I hate tempura!

Shopping and sushi didn't yet complete my day. After one of my friends went home me and my other friend went to watch a movie we went to see Taken 2. It wasn't so good. It was such a disappointment I loved the first one it was one of my favorite movies but then Taken 2 was a shocker!

I watched this movie today and I loved it! It made me laugh so much. I nearly fell in love with Vice kinikilig talaga ako kay Vice! If Vice was a guy he would be my crush...All the way! He was so good looking it was unreal. I think Vice should one day make a movie where he is an actual guy and he's not gay, then that would  mean he's a truly great actor. Vice Ganda is one of my favourite Filipino celebs. He can make everyone smile and laugh. I was thinking while I was watching this movie that I really want to go to Showtime and hopefully get to meet him one day.

Toni Gonzaga is also one of my idols. She can do everything! She can act, sing, host and dance. Isn't she perfect? So I guess this movie was made for me. It was cheesy at times but it didn't bother me it made me smile so that was all I cared about. All in all I enjoyed the movie!

Footloose

I love movies like these! Any movie with a dance theme is a must watch for me! They are movies I could watch over and over again. It makes me jealous; the way they move, the way they feel the music, the way they're so flexible its unreal. I so wish that I could dance like them. Even though I haven't watched the original version I guess I have no right to say much about it but I'm pretty sure I will also like the original. maybe one day I will watch it. But so far this is another one of my favourite movies along with Step Up 3 which I have watched too many times.

LOL

A movie starring Miley Cyrus and Demo Moore, about a teenage girl living a life of pain, happiness, love. A movie thousands of girls can relate to and fall in love with. Showing the connection and development with family and friends. A girl experiencing the things a teenager would maybe experience from fights with her mum to being cheated on. To taking drugs and losing her virginity. A teenage life on the big screen. 

For me it was an all time favourite. A movie where I could cringe, laugh and cry. A perfect movie for me. I fell in love with it from the first scene. Especially with a perfect soundtrack, that you will want to play on repeat.
